Ganni makes Circulose one of its ‘Fabrics of the Future’

In sync with the Global Fashion Summit held this week in Copenhagen, local fashion label Ganni hosted pop-ups around the city featuring its latest and ‘greenest’ styles.

Among these, Renewcell’s Circulose has been added to brand’s ‘Fabrics of the Future’ platform dedicated to the development of lower impact materials for fashion. Making a soft launch into Ganni’s main line, the man-made cellulosic fibre made from discarded cotton-rich clothing is present in two pants styles from the Pre-Fall range. They are made from a fabric that is 100% viscose and contains 15% Circulose.

Making it into Ganni’s main collection represents “a major milestone” for Renewcell, said Renewcell CEO Patrik Lundström.

A zero-waste denim capsule co-developed with Stem, a young label founded by Sarah Brunnhuber, also based in Copenhagen, was another Ganni highlight for the unofficial sustainability week of the Danish capital.

The brand’s husband-and-wife founders, Nicolaj Reffstrup and Ditte Reffstrup, are also direct investors in sustainable textile start-ups. They have for instance backed Circular Systems, a US-based company seeking to make fibres from agricultural waste.
