Ian Berry turns Ja Rule’s stage into denim garden
Denim artist Ian Berry has been busy creating more installations and art in denim, and has recently added set design to his list of accomplishments.
He designed and decorated a stage in denim (pictured) at the Sony Hall in New York for Ja Rule’s Vibes series, featuring Musiq Soulchild.
He said: “It was amazing to work with Ja, meet the legend and make a set for him and this amazing platform he is making to celebrate many of the trailblazers in R&B and Hip Hop.
“Musiq Soulchild has always been connected with denim so it was a perfect fit to make a all denim set at the beautiful Sony Musik Hall.”
He has also recently completed a series called Inmortal, featuring iconic musicians in Chile. The painstaking portraits of Jorge González, Anita Tijoux and Roberto Márquez de Illapu are exhibited in Santiago. Levi’s Chile arranged for Ian to meet Mr Márquez de Illapu - who confessed the denim portrait was his wife’s favourite picture of him.
