Levi's denims from 1873 to go up for auction

In another nod to the 150 years since Levi Strauss first obtained the patent for “riveted” trousers, today known as Levi’s 501 jeans, a pair of original denims from circa 1873 are to be auctioned by professional “denim hunter” Brit Eaton during the Durango Vintage Festivus in Colorado between September 28 and October 1.
Mr Eaton has been in the business of reselling since 1992. He previously owned and operated local vintage shop Carpe Denim from 1997 to 2015. Preferred sourcing destinations include abandoned nuns and farmland.
One hundred and thirty-eight rare pieces will be available for bidding in total. The highlight, though, is the jeans that date back to 1873, currently expected to reach around $150,000.
