Advance Denim debuts matte Tencel lyocell denims

The latest fabric collection from Chinese denim mill Advance makes ample use of Lenzing’s matte Tencel lyocell fibres, first released in late 2021 to help make softer, smoother denims that are “less shiny”, as the company put it at the time.

Austria-based Lenzing has been a supplier of Advance Denim’s for 15 years.

“Denim products that incorporate Tencel-branded fibres have a specific hand feel and sustainability edge that meet current market needs and [they] have been well-received by consumers,” commented the latter’s general manager, Amy Wang.

“Matte Tencel fibres create the perfect mixture of performance and sustainability, without sacrificing that true vintage indigo look,” she continued, referring to current market demand for wide-leg jeans with both softness and drapability.

“Its fibre properties also make the denim more like traditional cotton jeans after washing.”

How or when the fabrics will ultimately reach the market was not disclosed, but Ms Wang reemphasised Advance’s commitment to China, the US and Europe, with an eye to the Japanese and South Korean markets’ future potential.
