Japanese fibre producer Asahi Kasei, maker of Roica elastane, has teamed up with Lenzing and Advance Denim to create a capsule collection LoopTy, made from a blend of biodegradable fibres that will be presented at Kingpins Hong Kong later this week.

Roica V550 is certified Cradle-to-Cradle, Material Health Gold Level, and has been found to partially degrade under ISO14855-1 conditions, as verified by Italian lab OWS. Lenzing’s Tencel-branded lyocell fibres have been certified by TÜV Austria to biodegrade in soil, freshwater and marine environments, they are also compostable under home and industrial conditions.

“Sustainability and performance have always been guiding principles for Advance Denim since its inception in 1987,” commented Amy Wang, general manager of the Chinese mill. Prior partnerships with Lenzing had enabled the company to create ‘zero cotton’ or ‘no cotton’ references, but she said, the “missing piece of the puzzle was the stretch element, which is now fulfilled with Roica V550.”
