Carbios reduces reliance on PET bottles feedstock

                        The French company has developed an enzymatic processs which breaks plastics down to form new polymers and is building the world’s first” polyester (PET) depolymerisation plant in Longlaville, France.
From 2026, Landbell will supply the French company with 15 kt/year of PET flakes from plastic food trays.
With Carbios’ enzyme, less sorting and washing is required compared with current recycling technologies, offering future savings in energy and water use, said the companies.
Through the partnership, Carbios will have sourced over 70% of its feedstock required for the 50kt/year capacity facility.
