The Jean School students created articles for ‘Stretch Yourself #3’ - using laser, ozone treatments, crochet and patchwork – with the results showcased at Kingpins Amsterdam at the end of April.
Bossa Denim, DNM denim, Naveena Denim, Orta Anadolu and Soorty Enterprises supported the project with fabrics. Jeanologia was used for the technology and Officina39 and Tolkar-Smartex supplied the chemicals.
Mariette Hoitink, co-founder of House of Denim and Jean School, said: “Every year we have a fresh batch of students for the one-year Jean School International Course based in Denim City Amsterdam.
“This course is like a rollercoaster and deep dive into denim, sustainability, circularity, innovation and craftsmanship. And we never know what the outcome will be.
“Stretch Yourself is again the perfect title; threads, lots of triggers but also treatments, the students worked day and night to come up with the final results and took a totally unexpected take on stretch denim.”
Jos van den Hoogen, master tailor at House of Denim and Jean School, added: “This project is the only one in which they have to come up with a unique design in a short period of time and the final outcome has to be presented in an exhibition. From concept to pattern making to sewing to treatments in our sustainable laundry lab, and of course a photoshoot.”
After Kingpins, Stretch Yourself #3 will find a home at Denim City, Amsterdam.
