Italian know-how behind Vollebak’s Dyneema jeans

Working with a 130 year-old Italian mill, outdoor brand Vollebak has launched “indestructible jeans”, made with 13.7 oz denim woven with 25% Dyneema, an ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE).

They also come with a Cordura-reinforced seat that can withstand a 75kmph fall and drag on concrete.

Co-founders Nick and Steve Tidball said: “Every element of the jeans is constructed with skilled craftsmanship that's designed to last, with ultra-durable, vintage detailing. There’s a two-piece metal zipped fly, five large belt loops, and metal buttons and rivets which add durability to stress points.

“And since the back pocket rivets on denim were traditionally hidden to prevent cowboys from scratching their saddles, we've left them concealed. All the stitching is sewn with heavy duty thread, and you'll find intricate chain stitching at the hem and the waistband.”

Vollebak is known for using and experimenting with novel or high-performing materials - previous ranges have included graphene, carbon fibre, copper, aerogel, ionic liquid, seaweed, algae, ceramics, phosphorescent compounds and volcanic soil.
