The mill has been working with the Dutch company since 2015 and, speaking at Kingpins 24 Flash, its marketing driector Rashid Iqbal Nasir said its know-how in blending with cotton has been the key to offering tough denim suitable for workwear or motorbike brands.
DSM claims its material is the first UHMW sourced from renewable, bio-based feedstock. It offers cut and abrasion resistance and has a high resistance to chemicals and UV. DSM aims for at least 60% of the Dyneema fibre to be bio-based by 2030.
Naveena has also been working on a collaboration with denim consultant Salli Deighton, and a hemp-blended collection called Bast Recast, due to launch in April.
