PG Denim uses antimicrobial finish from Rudolf

Despite Italy being on lockdown, the owner of PG Denim has partnered chemicals group Rudolf for a capsule collection that uses an antimicrobial finish.

Paolo Gnutti said: "I decided to create a capsule collection not only thinking about the issues related to the current Covid-19 situation, but thinking about an overall concept of taking care of ourselves.

"The situation  we are going through today, we might have seen only in the movies, a pandemic that will change radically our lifestyle. This capsule collection certainly won’t eliminate the virus, but it can guarantee us very high protection from many infectious bacteria that surround us every day.”

Mr Gnutti worked with Alberto De Conti, head of Rudolf Fashion Division at Rudolf HUB 1922. It uses a microstructure covered with metallic silver that acts as an effective bacteriostatic. The product has been designed for high resistance washing, and the fabrics are certified by GOTS, BCI, DTOX and OEKO TEX.

Mr Gnutti adds, “We shouldn’t produce garments focused only on costs and volume any longer – we should create fewer, better products. We are all hoping that this very serious worldwide situation will end soon; until then we think that creating a fashionable and intelligent collection will give our small contribution to make a better world.”
