PG’s DOCG line takes to the stage

Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin (or DOCG) is the name of PG Denim founder and CEO, Paolo Gnutti’s bold new denim collection, developed during the covid-19 lockdowns in Italy.

“The term DOCG represents exactly all the values and principles that I follow every time I have to create a new collection.

"Research on the market for the best raw materials, thorough control of each step of the production chain and quality assurance of a unique, sophisticated and fashionable product. All this added to a work ethic and respect for the environment typical of all our collections,” Mr Gnutti said.

The options offered include Studio 54 (which explores a combination of cotton and vinyl), Velvet (viscose flock), Garage (metallic denim), Home Sweet Home (“practical and comfy” pieces in mainly indigo, black and ecru) and Tattoo (garments which reflect the wearer’s appreciation for tattoo art, as if a “second visual skin”).

PG produces denim with, on average, 35% recycled content in the fabric mix and offers a range of denim which incorporates around 60% recycled materials. “Most” of the waste from during and after each garment’s production is also recycled, with the recycled cotton obtained from this process being upcycled into new clothing by the company.

The company’s Free Cotton denim collection, which is made with zero cotton, is due to be released “very soon”, according to a press release.
