AE high on Forbes’ list of best employers for new grads

Of seventeen American clothing brands that secured a spot in Forbes’ Best Employers for New Graduates list, American Eagle scored the highest, with H&M, Abercrombie & Fitch and Rue21 also among the denim brands that were named.

A total of 250 companies were included on the list, crossing a wide range of industries. The category of clothing included seventeen brands, about half of which are purveyors of jeans. Rankings of jeans retailers were as follows: American Eagle (27), Hot Topic (40), Carter’s (50), PVH - Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein (125), H&M (139), Forever 21 (153), Abercrombie & Fitch (183), Rue 21 (239) and Urban Outfitters (250).

The list was the result of Forbes and market research company Statista research into what companies were most liked by new workforce entrants.

To compile the list, they surveyed 20,000 Americans with less than 10 years’ professional experience working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees. Because the surveys were conducted from March to June, results took into account previous rankings of best employers, to factor in any statistically-significant variations potentially affected by the pandemic.

The anonymous surveys asked respondents to rate their employers on criteria such as safety of work environment, competitiveness of compensation, opportunities for advancement, effectiveness of diversity and inclusion efforts and openness to telecommuting. Respondents also shared how likely they’d be to recommend their employer to others and were asked to nominate organisations in other industries.
