James Bartle: Denim’s role in addressing modern slavery

The founder and chief executive of Australian denim brand Outland Denim, James Bartle, is the contributor of the guest comment in the recently published issue three of Inside Denim magazine.
Mr Bartle writes candidly about his opposition to modern slavery and his belief that the denim industry can help address “this global injustice” by providing women from vulnerable backgrounds with opportunities for stable and safe employment.
Outland helps women who have been impacted by human rights abuses by offering them employment as seamstresses in its production facilities in Cambodia.
You can read Mr Bartle’s own account of his work and his philosophy here.
