Outland appeals for public investments to boost growth
Australia’s Outland Denim is launching a crowdfunding campaign, looking for equity from the public or businesses in return for shares to help support an international expansion following its purchase of Nobody Denim.

The business has recently faced economic problems, due to falling demand and the rising cost of cotton.

However, in October it bought Australian rival Nobody Denim in an asset-only sale for an undisclosed sum, acquiring assets, trademarks, some manufacturing equipment and some stock.

The group now consists of Outland Denim, Maeka Standard, and Huskland and Nobody.

Founder James Bartle, who has provided a Guest Comment to Inside Denim, said: “Nobody Denim boasts over 60,000 customers and $5.6 million in revenue in FY23. This is a monumental leap in our mission as we expand to 170 retail doors across Australia and prepare for international expansion.”

Launched 12 years ago, one of Outland's missions is to empower workers, particularly in places like Cambodia where it has a factory. It won the Stop Slavery Award for SMEs in 2019.
