Saitex opens automated US denim facility

Vietnam-headquartered B Corporation Saitex recently opened a new jeans-making facility in the United States, its first factory outside of its home country.
Based in Vernon, California, a manufacturing town south of Los Angeles’ business district, the first-of-its-kind project reportedly boasts an automated supply chain ecosystem which allows for speedy, interconnected ordering and costing with shorter lead times.
This gives the base a “competitive advantage” on account of its proximity to US partners, Saitex said.
The factory also features headcount-reducing semi-automated sewing, robotic spraying, 3D laser detailing, fully up-to-date laser cutting, and one-step wash machines connected to an innovative water recycling system.
Saitex’s tech-forward credentials are further boosted by its ‘speed to market’ system, which enables a made-to-order approach (such as online garment design and the fast manufacturing of custom styles at scale) and agile inventory management.
Founder and chief executive of Saitex, Sanjeev Bahl, commented: “This is another step in our journey, providing an opportunity to bring sustainable manufacturing and jobs to the United States, a first step in re-evaluating and reinventing global supply chains.”
