Saitex Vietnam becomes bluesign partner
Bluesign, a Swiss organisation supporting clean chemistry in the textile industry, has announced that Saitex Vietnam is now a system partner. The group’s fabric and garment making divisions thus join the company’s laundry, which has been a bluesign partner for some ten years.

Founded in 2001 by Sanjeev Bahl, the denim manufacturer operates facilities in Vietnam and Los Angeles that, it claims, uphold high sustainability and social standards. The garment division is certified Fair Trade, LEED and B Corp, offering brands strong guarantees of ethical and sustainable manufacturing processes.

To further reduce its impacts, Saitex has invested in Smart Indigo’s dyeing technology that uses an electrochemical system to make indigo soluble and therefore doesn’t require hydrosulfite. The mill is said to be building a closed-loop water management system to minimise freshwater intake at its fabric manufacturing facility, which is expected to be completed in mid-2025.

Bluesign seeks, in its Global Denim Initiative, to reduce the impact of denim production worldwide and is focusing its efforts on this market. Since its founding in 2000, 850 manufacturers, brands and chemical suppliers worldwide have adhered to the organisation’s principles.
