Hiut offers blockchain: ‘Geeky but cool’
Welsh jeans manufacturer and brand Hiut is working with VeChain, a blockchain app provider, to add traceability to its jeans.

Blockchain is a database that stores data in blocks that are then chained together.

Hiut said: “We started accepting Bitcoin in 2013. Part of the culture here is to get to the future before others.”

The partnership with VeChain will allow customers to “follow” their jeans around the factory floor. “Geeky, but cool,” said Hiut.

Giusy Bettoni, the founder of textiles hub CLASS, introduced a webinar on blockchain in denim as part of PV Denim Digital Week in December.
