Evisu and Ev Bravado’s lawless denim

Japanese denim brand Evisu and Ev Bravado, a cult US label designed by Everard Best, have partnered on their first denim collection.
Consisting of two pairs of light wash jeans, a denim jacket (in the same wash) and a darker denim bucket hat, the capsule combines signature motifs familiar to fans of both brands, including Evisu’s seagull and daicock logos and Ev Bravado’s “MRDR” (the designer goes by @murderbravado on Instagram) lettering, including on three out of four of the styles’ “back patches”.
Heavily distressed looking, some of the denim articles have also been partly worked in a print reminiscent of stained glass, while cursive English-language embroidery dominates the single pair of jeans without this detail.
Styled with cowboy-style leather boots in the accompanying campaign imagery, the frayed denim and “MRDR” spellouts combine to portray the two streetwear staples’ joint denim effort as recapturing a sense of the so-called ‘lawless’ American Old West.
