After being inspired by some of its work, Hiut worked with agency Agent Pekka to select five artists from different disciplines and different parts of the world whose work would translate beautifully onto denim.

The fabric is 100% organic cotton from Italian mill Candiani, in a 12 oz medium dark indigo, dyed with Kikotex, a natural polymer from mushrooms and seaweed. The designs are screen printed using water-based inks.

Hiut told us: “The Artist Series is about showcasing the work of creatives for creatives. It is about using fun and freedom as a brief, a chance to see the blank sheet of paper as something exciting.”

The third design is by Antti Kalevi, an artist and illustrator based in  Helsinki, Finland.
