Cone Denim creates new community-focused selvedge
Cone Denim is embracing a new cause through its Community Collection with the launch of a novel green-hued selvedge denim for Mental Health Awareness Month this May. The denim manufacturer, which is a part of US-based Elevate Textiles, will be donating a portion of the sales of this reference to the Child Mind Institute, a non-profit.

The denim fabric is one of Cone’s iconic references that cues 80’s-inspired constructions. It is available in a ‘Distilled Indigo’ shade and it has a bright green selvedge ID.

This is the fourth fabric to feature a novel selvedge in Cone’s Community Collection, which was launched in 2019. A pink-edged denim was created for Breast Cancer Awareness, in support of a programme called Alight, a rainbow-coloured selvedge was developed for the LGBTQ+ community and to support the work of the HRC Human Rights Campaign, and a bright blue selvedge was made to support clean water and Water.org, a non-profit.

“Everyone knows someone who has been affected by mental health challenges. Increasing awareness of the importance of child mental health and the resources available is more crucial than ever,” said Cone Denim president Steve Maggard. He added that the company is “always exploring new partnerships in an effort to support our customers and employees while also raising awareness and money towards significant social concerns of our time.”
