An international regenerative agriculture platform, Regenagri supports farms and organisations transitioning to the practice which seeks to maintain soil health, encourage biodiversity and sequester carbon dioxide (CO2). Italian mill Candiani joined this programme in 2021. This certification system is backed by Control Union.
Regenagri provides farms with access to a digital hub that allows them to measure and monitor progress as well as provide certification and verification. These, the organisation says, can open new sources of funding to farmers, such as Carbon Credits.
Adding cotton grown using regenerative practices to its roster of raw materials, will boost Cone’s commitment to source 80% verifiably sustainable cotton by 2025.
“Cotton is the foundation of denim. Cone is committed to leading the industry in offering the highest standards in sustainable and ethically grown cotton from our new certification with Regenagri and longstanding participation with BCI and Cotton Leads to our partnership with Oritain,” commented Cone Denim President Steve Maggard. The company is also a member of the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol.
