Catalan textile cluster in Dutch circularity ‘mission’
Delegates hailing from the Spanish region of Catalonia toured the Netherlands in late September as part of a “textile waste management mission”.

Organised by Enterprise Europe Network Nederland adviser Remko Triezenberg, members of the Catalan fashion and textile cluster (Clúster Català de la Moda i el Tèxtil, also known as MODACC) were accompanied by representatives from Catalan government agencies for business competitiveness and foreign investment, ACCIÓ and Catalonia T&I Nederland.

The intention was to facilitate opportunities for learning centred around “showcasing the innovative and pioneering solutions the Netherlands has to offer”, Catalonia T&I Nederland said, directly from their initiators.

One of the founders of Amsterdam-based foundation House of Denim, Mariette Hoitink, shared circular economy insights gleaned from the local denim ecosystem, such as Jean School, Denim City and the Dutch Denim Deal

Other participants included education-focused platform Race Against Waste, recycler Het Goed, clothing collector Salvation Army ReShare, fabric mill Enschede Textielstad, fibre-to-fibre recycling specialist Textiles2Textiles, circular textiles incubator Stichting TexPlus, the City of Amsterdam and Dutch government agency Rijkswaterstaat, alongside waste management enterprises CirkelWaarde, MangoStone and Circulus-Berkel.
