FibreTrace expands its South Asian footprint

Alongside fellow Pakistani manufacturer Diamond Denim, Karachi’s Artistic Apparels has become one of the latest suppliers to incorporate Good Earth Cotton, a regenerative fibre whose “climate-positive” and other sustainability claims can be verified by FibreTrace’s physical traceability marker.
Both developed by the Stathams, an Australian cotton-growing family, the cotton offers full traceability throughout its life cycle via farm-level application of a luminescent pigment solution, the same as that used to secure currency and passports.
“We felt the pressing need to deliver sustainable and traceable products to our customers and integrate a system of accountability and transparency within our supply chains,” commented head of development and innovation at Artistic Apparels, Ayesha Jan.
The company's debut collection using FibreTrace-marked cotton will be ready to order early this year.
Similarly, Dhaka-based producer Beximco revealed that it would be applying the GOTS-approved pigment to cotton, hemp, recycled cotton and recycled polyester fibres during spinning in early December. The resultant yarns, woven fabrics, knits and apparel will become available this month.
Free-to-use traceability tool FibreTrace Mapped is also set to launch on January 17, covering all fibre types. Those interested are invited to sign up for updates here.
