Nudie boosts focus on repairs as part of renewed thinking
Swedish denim brand Nudie repaired 65,386 jeans in 2022, used 95.6% ‘sustainable’ fibres and created a Climate Action Roadmap to enable it to reach the Paris Agreement's 1.5° degree pathway.

The achievements are listed in its newly published Sustainability Report, which also highlights its use of organic cotton, choice of suppliers that use renewable energy and mapping of all tiers of the supply chain.

The company was placed in the Leading category in the Textile Exchange Material Change Index for the fourth year in a row and ranked as Fair Wear Foundation for the ninth year.

The company said: “A series of high-impact decisions established the direction for the operational work in the second half of 2022, a central part of which was increasing our repair and reuse business. In reworking our strategy, we are now exploring different activities to align our operational work with the renewed direction.”

Sales in 2022 rose 3% to SEK 493.1 million (£15 million). However, fibre usage fell by 16%, reflecting reduced volumes.
