Lisbon designer chooses Candiani-Asahi Kasei combo for new collection

Portuguese designer Ana Duarte has used ReLast denim in her spring-summer 2022 collection.

Ms Duarte said she had chosen to use ReLast in a long, unisex coat and trousers for one of the 20 outfits that make up the collection because she was attracted by its ‘responsibility’ credentials.

ReLast is the result of project that Milan-based denim producer Candiani worked on with Japanese group Asahi Kasei, incorporating Roica recycled stretch yarn into GOTS-certified organic cotton fabric.

The coat also has fabric made by lining specialist Gianni Crespi from Asahi Kasei’s Bemberg smart fibre. Lisbon-based Ms Duarte has described the lining as the result of a “smart-tech transformation of cotton linter”.
