Softness and shine at Sharabati

Egypt-headquartered denim mill Sharabati outlined novelties for spring-summer 2024 at Kingpins Amsterdam in late October, including an exceptionally soft 100% cotton fabric, as well as a similar fabric blended with Tencel, for an even softer option.

This clean, sophisticated look is very popular, commented marketing director Dilek Erik. “It’s still a denim look but you can wear it all day long and it’s very comfortable, and it can be made with stretch or without.”

The CoolR collection includes ‘pop denim’, with stripes, herringbone and rip-stop, as well as prints made on its in-house machines.

The mill also produced authentic and vintage-look fabrics including slubby looks, or fabrics containing with Tencel or hemp. The hemp fabrics are blended with  regenerative cotton to make them  as natural and sustainable as possible”. “For the summer, hemp is a moisture wicking fibre, so you feel dry even on a hot day,” added Ms Erik.

Also on display were Sharabati’s opposing fabrics: the Dream of Nile collection, made with 100% Giza 94 Egyptian cotton, which creates very shiny, soft and formal material; and Loomers – fabrics woven on shuttle looms, with selvedge in shirting, gabardine and denim.

The mill is set to announce a big partnership soon.
