Ahead of the PV Denim show in Milan, Italian mill Pure Denim is once again showcasing a series of out-of-the-ordinary denim fabrics developed with Italian silk specialist Cosetex. The luxury fibre is featured in a special range the two partners have called Komorebi, which means ‘sunlight through trees’ in Japanese.

The denim fabrics are made from a pure silk (demi-shappe yarn) weft, which gives them a soft touch and glow, evocative of 'komorebi'. "This means that the fabrics can have from 35 to 40% silk," Luigi Caccia told Inside Denim.

“The yarns used in this collection blend the ruggedness of denim with the refined qualities of silk. The fabric combines the strength of denim with the elegance, performance and natural quality of silk to achieve a perfect balance between durability and lightness,” commented Cosetex owner Silvio Mandelli.

In addition to being a natural and biodegradable fibre, the presence of silk provides enhanced thermoregulation and odour control properties, he added.
