Endrime’s holograms preserve archive for posterity

On a mission to preserve fashion heritage, Endrime’s Mohsin Sajid and Sadia Rafique teamed up with archivers d_archive to create 3D replicas and holograms, digitised in Gerber and Clo3D formats, for eight pieces from the Endrime archive (1870s-1999).

Rajby Industries then recreated the pieces using modern, period-appropriate fabrics and sustainable washes.

The 3D Denim Archives project featured in Kingpins Show Boxes together with a Special Exhibition Book with patterns and stories about each piece. Paper patterns for each garment and Clo3D and DXF files are also available for students to download.

Mohsin Sajid, creative director at Endrime, said: “My vision over the last few years has been to start to share patterns with my  students. I always get asked which archive or resource they should buy, or where can they buy or download denim patterns. The best way is to reverse-engineer an existing garment, then use that as a starting point. But the problem is, most garments are not accessible, especially historical ones.

“D_archive shared my vision of accurately replicating a denim archive, and they are the best 3D replicas I’ve seen in any historic denim collection to date. Rajby Industries came on board soon after, and they were also excited about the concept of sharing historic denim patterns for a newer generation.”

The book of the collection has 156 pages and comes with eight historical patterns in a special box, and will be available from Endrime.com.

“Our mission is to try and document these archives for educational resources for future preservation and never be out of print,” added Mohsin.
