Gap to dress NYSE in denim to mark ticker change

Retail group Gap will be changing its ticker symbol from GPS to GAP on the New York Stock Exchange on August 22, the 55th anniversary of the opening of the original Gap store in San Francisco.
Team members will mark the occasion by ringing the NYSE Opening Bell and dress the trading floor in Gap Denim and 1969 sweatshirts, reminiscent of 1987, when Gap took over the New York Stock Exchange for its first Casual Friday, dressing traders in khakis and casual button-down shirts.
The company's common stock will continue to be listed on the NYSE and its trading number will remain unchanged.
Gap Inc owns the Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic and Athleta brands.
