Lenzing’s suppliers help to create Circ denim for H&M

Retailer H&M is set to launch menswear denim for spring that contains Circ’s textile-to-textile recycled fibres alongside Tencel Refibra, as part of a new collaboration that sees suppliers combine the two fibres to help it scale.

The denim has been created by Pakistan-based AGI Denim.

Circ’s recycled pulp will be commercialised through Lenzing’s supply chain in the form of ‘Tencel | Circ with Refibra Technology’- Refibra is Lenzing’s textile waste-containing offering, blended with wood pulp; this combination uses 30% Circ in the blend.

The launch builds on the SWITCH2CE programme led by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), and a two-year pilot in Bangladesh with advisory group Intellecap and H&M, through which polycotton waste was turned into Circ Lyocell and Circ Polyester.

Florian Heubrander, executive vice-president of commercial textiles at Lenzing Group, said: “By integrating Circ’s recycled pulp into our Tencel Refibra technology and partnering with H&M Group, we’ve demonstrated how existing mill relationships and fibre platforms can be leveraged to make circular fashion commercially viable.”

Peter Majeranowski, CEO at Circ, added: “By working with partners of this calibre, we’re showing how fibre producers and global brands can close the loop at commercial volumes.”
