Mud Jeans and Tencel celebrate circularity
Dutch circular denim brand Mud Jeans and Lenzing have worked together to develop a premium low impact denim fabric. It is made from a blend of post-consumer recycled cotton with Tencel lyocell.

Lenzing produces Tencel lyocell fibres from certified wood pulp and in a closed-loop process in which 99.8% of the solvent is recovered. This the company said, results in near zero wastage, and leads to a reduction in carbon emissions and water usage of at least 50%, compared to generic lyocell, as per an LCA. The blend with recycled cotton also delivers a soft and more fluid hand feel.

“Blending Tencel lyocell fibres into our recycled cotton denims gives us the best of both worlds: the soft, cool hand feel and fluid drape people love, plus the strength and breathability great jeans demand. It elevates comfort without sacrificing authenticity – and fits perfectly with our mission to make circular fashion the new normal,” commented Mud Jeans CEO Jolanda Brink.
