First Raw Talk by Inside Denim airs with Sharabati

This morning Inside Denim hosted its first Raw Talk live webinar with Sharabati. Taha Sharabati, product design manager Stefano Dotto and sales manager Constantin Vratsidas joined Technical Editor Sophie Bramel to discuss the latest news from the company. It offers an insightful conversation on Sharabati’s unique vision drawn from its presence in Egypt, Turkey and in time, back in Syria, the home country of the company’s founding family.

Taha Sharabati shared the company’s vision on the evolution of sourcing denim and jeans from the Middle East. The company operates a mill in Egypt since 1998, and welcomes the country’s growing textile and garment-making industry. “As more companies come to Egypt, we will have in time the entire scope of suppliers and products needed, from trimmings on,” he told the audience.

Constantin Vratsidas presented 4Growth, a partnership with the Markou Group, also a family-owned operation to promote regenerative cotton agriculture in Greece. The organisation works with 617 farmers backed by a team of some 20 agronomists that to assist the growers in preserving soil, reducing inputs and optimising yield using the latest technologies. “We need a new model for cotton farming,” he said. He added that “we are especially proud, as a family company to be working with the Markou family. We’ve now received two harvests, and have enough regenerative cotton grown in Greece to make 7.5 million jeans.”

Egyptian cotton is also a part of the Sharabati fibre mix, and Stefano Dotto went into the details of using the high quality, long staple fibre to create fine fabrics that have a very soft hand feel and subtle sheen. Mr Dotto also presented the structure of Sharabati’s Twillis collection that targets the fashion and casual wear markets. This premium range is organised in four families that go from city chic to clean fabrics for everyday and touch on street and workwear styles. He also evoked a key emerging denim trend that plays on layered coloured finishes to achieve new effects, a fresh denim trend for spring-summer 2027.

On recycling, Mr Sharabati explained that nearly all waste generated by the mills are recycled on site, down to the cotton dust which is being pelletised and used to feed boilers. Sharabati is also a member of the Denim Deal, noted Mr Vratsidas.

Innovation in technology is another key focus for the company, which is progressively digitalising production to collect the most reliable data on its operations. This is not only a precious decision-making tool, but also helping the company prepare for future legislation on digital passports, Mr Sharabati pointed out.
