Sharabati introduces new Twillis division
Alongside its denim fabrics, Sharabati has created a new division dedicated to flats and gabardines with Twillis, which had its own booth at PV Denim last week. “We are introducing a more sophisticated take on a category that is usually considered more casual,” Dilek Erik, head of marketing, told Inside Denim. To achieve this, the mill, which has two facilities, one in Turkey and the other in Egypt, has invested in new spinning and finishing equipment. This allows it to develop finer count yarns and special twists to make finer fabrics that have a cleaner look and feel, she said.

The project was launched last fall and is headed by Matteo Vallarsa. “The plan is to create a strong identity for this new category,” he said.

The inaugural collection covers four ranges. Number 1 features a specially twisted yarn made from Egyptian cotton, in a fine count for dense fabric constructions, and whose clean look is the result of purely mechanical finishing, without any chemicals, said Mr Vallarsa. Infinite, a second range, focuses on fluidity and drape with fabrics made from pure Tencel lyocell or blended with cotton. The 24/7 range offers a series of versatile and seasonless gabardines. The fourth range, 9to5, has a more workwear feel and features classic oxford weaves and ripstops in pure cotton and in blends of cotton and nylon.

Hinting at future developments, Sharabati said that it plans to add yarn-dyed and coated fabrics.
