Diamond Denim reduces water by up to 99%
Pakistan-based Diamond Denim by Sapphire introduced their Drop of Water innovation during Kingpins24 Amsterdam in late October.
Drop of Water was initially inspired by incentivised employee engagement with the mills’ various sustainability efforts. After testing the new system on 30,000 metres of yarn, Diamond Denim found that Drop of Water reduced water consumption during the conventionally thirsty rope-dyeing process by around 90%.
When using Drop of Water methods in the finishing process, it is possible for around 99% of water to be saved. The mill said that they also discovered that Drop of Water denim has better shrinkage, with a slightly darker colour being produced.
Diamond Denim has already used Drop of Water to make denim for one of its “key” customers, with further orders expected imminently.
