Lycra and DNM Denim mix for 'power and comfort'

Shandong Ruyi-owned The Lycra Company and Turkey-headquartered denim producer DNM Denim have collaborated on DNM Denim’s “revolutionary” new fabric collection, Shaped’N Relaxed.

The collection brings together Lycra Beauty (shapewear technology that can be applied to denim) and Freef!t (a “soft” stretch denim technology, based upon proprietary yarn and fabric constructions) technologies, to offer consumers “customised shaping” and “increased fit forgiveness and comfort”, The Lycra Company said in a press release.

Shaped’N Relaxed fabrics are knitted with an open structure, giving the fabric a “very gentle soft stretch”. This stretchiness suits a “broad fit window” due to the use of Lycra Freef!t, but at the same time provides the wearer with Lycra Beaty’s “exceptional shaping properties”.

All in all, the denim offers consumers “lower pressure shaping”, with “gradient levels” of stretch and fit (detailed for each fabric on a comfort map, itself developed “after rigorous testing” by The Lycra Company).

Lycra Company sales manager, Cem Karaboga, explained: “To help brands and manufacturers meet consumer demand, we needed to push the boundaries of denim innovation.

“Using DNM Denim mill’s weaving knowledge and expertise to extract the best out of our denim technologies, we created a breakthrough fabric design that provides brands and retailers with an all-in-one solution that addresses consumers’ need for fit, especially in today’s online retail environment.”

Shaped’N Relaxed is made with “sustainable” cotton and can be woven with Lycra EcoMade (an elastane/spandex product made with pre-consumer recycled materials) and Lycra T400 EcoMade (made from more than 65% recycled plastics and “renewable plant-based resources”) fibres.
