Lycra and Next team up on ‘high-performance’ denim

Delaware-headquartered The Lycra Company and European high street retailer Next have joined forces to develop Next’s “first ever performance denim range” for every day, Lycra said in a press release.
The line, called Active Denim, is aimed at consumers who lead active and busy lifestyles. It is intended to offer a “multi-functional, all-rounder product that will fit seamlessly” with their needs throughout the day.
In addition to Lycra fibre (which the brand described as offering “great stretch and recovery, all day”), Lycra’s Coolmax technology has been incorporated into the fabric, designed to contribute towards the wearer feeling more “cool and comfortable” than they would if wearing “average denim”, Lycra said, thanks to Coolmax’s moisture-wicking properties, which allow air to pass through the material.
Lycra said that the garments will maintain their functionality, “wash after wash”, thanks to Coolmax’s “technical advance” making up part of the denim fabric itself.
The range includes full-length denim leggings, a capri style denim legging, denim shorts and a casual denim jacket. It will be available to purchase from Next online starting January 2021, with the leggings launching first.
