Name It one of the first to use CmiA Organic

Children and teens’ brand Name it, which describes itself as having a strong focus on denim, is among the first two brands (the other being Selected) to have incorporated Cotton made in Africa (CmiA) Organic in their ranges, CmiA recently announced.

Both brands are owned by Danish fashion group Bestseller.

CmiA said that its verified organic cotton (part of the Aid by Trade Foundation’s standards family) is grown under rain-fed conditions, genetically modified organism (GMO)-free, cultivated using organic pesticides and natural fertilisers only and harvested by hand.

Sourcing and sustainability manager at Name It, Joan Søndergaard Nielsen, added that CmiA Organic raw material is “100% traceable”.

The brand representative further stated that by purchasing organic cotton via the organisation, Name It felt that it is therefore also helping CmiA with its child protection, education and gender equality initiatives and “in general supporting smallholder farmers in Africa [to increase] the living conditions for their entire families”.
