New head of design at Yeezy
Former design director for Nike’s ACG (standing for “all conditions gear”) division Nur Abbas has recently been named head of design at Yeezy, the multibillion-dollar brand founded by artist Kanye West, now known by the name Ye.

Reporting directly to Ye, Mr Abbas will lead on Yeezy Gap, Stemwear (the apparel accompaniment to Ye’s recently launched Stem music player), as well as music-related merchandise and the Yeezy line itself.

The newly appointed design director told reporters: “I’m energised to work with Ye because he cares so deeply about design and moving culture forward. At Yeezy and Gap, I’ve met some of the most talented people and teams, and I’m looking forward to working with them all to extend this new creative vision to the world.”

Prior to his time with Nike ACG, Mr Abbas worked with Nikelab Apparel, Uniqlo, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Maison Margiela, among others.

Yeezy Gap recently unveiled its Yeezy Gab Engineered by Balenciaga capsule, created in collaboration with Balenciaga creative director, Demna Gvasalia.

Los Angeles-based design studio and denim laundry Star Fades International (SFI), owned by Karachi-headquartered denim manufacturer Artistic Milliners, contributed significantly to the development and realisation of the collection’s denim and knit articles, SFI revealed earlier this month.
