New run for Camille x Mango in the works
06/06/2022
Earlier this year, Mango updated its sustainability programme. Launched in 2020, it says that 80% of all garments it sells now feature sustainable characteristics and are thus labelled Mango Committed. It claims to have doubled the percentage of sustainable garments in its total production in 2021. The retailer says that 91% of its cotton is now ‘sustainable’ meaning that it contains either organic, recycled or BCI cotton.
In its new sustainability push, Mango has now pledged to make 100% of its products “Committed”. It has recently joined ZDHC, an organisation that promotes cleaner chemicals management, and Canopy Style, an NGO specialising in manmade cellulose fibre sourcing.
Mango plans to switch all of its polyester to recycled, source 100% of its cellulose fibres from controlled and traceable origins, and make 100% of its cotton sustainable by 2025.
Committed garments are those which contain at least 30% of what the company calls “more sustainable fibres”.
