Hewitt Denim Mills was formerly known as Hewitt Heritage Fabrics. It introduced Lancashire-woven selvedge back in 2020.
Woven on 1950s Saurer shuttle looms supplied by Pete Moore, Mr Hewitt said that the company was “excited” about the upcoming collaboration. Affiliated brand Somebody’s Denim will knit French-grown hemp and organic cotton t-shirts on Loopwheel machines in Yorkshire later this year, he added.
A cottonised hemp selvedge from Somebody’s Denim is also in the works, made from Marmara Hemp fibre and organic cotton dyed with Global Organic Textile Standard-approved dyes at Yarn Dyers of Blackburn.
