This will support plans to generate at least 20% of the company’s energy from renewable sources, it told local media. Already, a 708-kilowatt solar power plant was installed on the roof of its Universal Jeans facility in April.
Managing director at Pacific Jeans, Syed M Tanvir, commented that the unit should now be able to raise roughly 3.5 megawatts of solar-powered energy daily, amounting to approximately 10% of its total energy consumption.
“All our international clients, including Marks & Spencer, Uniqlo, H&M and American Eagle, have their own environmental sustainability goals and carbon dioxide emissions targets. Being their manufacturer, we are also aligned with those targets,” Mr Tanvir commented.
Pacific Jeans will further look to slash its total carbon emissions by 65% ahead of the year 2030, he added. This will reportedly include establishing a water recycling plant, a rainwater harvesting facility and a state-of-the-art washing unit, all already in the works.
