Tüsa Denim's nature-oriented SS2024
Turkey-based denim mill Tüsa Denim exhibited at Première Vision earlier this month showcasing its latest ranges developed for SS 2024. The “From nature” collection features recycled and plant-based fibres and focuses on waterless dyeing and finishing that offer both iconic denim aesthetics and a lighter footprint.

Sustainability is essential to the company, Yasin Yasar, export, sales and marketing manager told Inside Denim and starts with raw materials such as Tencel, linen, organic and BCI cotton all the way to dyeing and finishing. Tüsa Denim uses a glucose-based reducing agent in its indigo dyeing processes, he said, and promotes waterless technologies and reduced use of chemicals.

Innovation is up at the company thanks to the recruitment of machine and textile engineers to reinforce the company’s R&D team, which is now 10 people strong, said Mr Yasar. One striking example of a new development is a denim fabric with 4 to 5% cashmere in the weft.

One of five companies that make up the Tüsa textile group, Tüsa Denim’s fabric production capacity is 3.5 to 4 million metres per month for denim and around 1.5 million metres for gabardine. It operates two mills, one in Bartin, in the west of the country, and one in Kahramanmaras, at the epicentre of the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria on February 6. Our hearts go out to all those who have suffered this tragic event.
