Fashion for Good taps CleanKore, Ioncell and more
Amsterdam-based sustainability platform Fashion for Good, which works to catalyse fruitful collaborations between developers of new technologies and fashion's global supply chain, has published its list of the 12 start-ups chosen to participate in this year’s nine-month innovation programme.

Among them is CleanKore, a method of indigo dyeing for denims that retains the authentic white core of yarns, as its name would suggest, and has also been found to be less time- and resource-intensive. The company has already collaborated with denim manufacturers such as Arvind and Epic and last autumn introduced a black denim programme alongside partner Archroma.

Other inclusions of particular note for the industry include Qingdao Amino Material Technology’s Re:lastane, plus Aalto University spin-out Ioncell, which produces a wood-based cellulosic fibre using novel ionic liquids developed by joint winners of the 2022 Marcus Wallenberg Prize, professors Herbert Sixta and Ilkka Kilpeläinen.

“We are inspired by the significant impact opportunities these technologies enable," said managing director at Fashion for Good, Katrin Ley, of the start-ups selected. “With an emphasis on driving implementation, we provide them with the best support to expedite their exposure and growth in the market.”

Look out for an update on Epic’s progress with implementing CleanKore in Inside Denim issue 10.
