Noble’s Ionic+ delivers longer-lasting denim for Cone

A new fabric from North Carolina denim mill Cone, produced in collaboration with long-time partner Noble Biomaterials, uses the positive charge from silver ions embedded in yarns to inhibit bacteria and microbe growth on the surface to reduce odours and wash frequency.
The “sustainable” technology used is Noble’s Ionic+ technology, designed to prolong the lifespan of garments. First presented at Kingpins New York, the resulting jeanswear has been dyed with Cone’s own pre-reduced Distilled Indigo shades for “additional water, energy and chemical savings”.
US casualwear label Mack Weldon will be among the first adopters, beginning next season.
Noble’s chief marketing officer, Allon Cohne, commented: “Cone Denim is ahead of the curve offering a commercially ready denim using Ionic+ permanent mineral technology.
"They came to us early on in anticipation of this trend. Ionic+ is well-suited for the increased demand of fabric solutions that offer ‘wear more with reduced impact’ benefits.”
