Cone to debut its first Circulose denims at Kingpins NY

US denim mill Cone is set to show its very first collection of pilot fabrics made with Circulose fibre during trade fair Kingpins New York between January 24 and 25.

The new denims, Wonderwall and Eden, each in part contain viscose fibres produced from Renewcell’s Circulose brand of dissolving cellulose pulp. Kingpins Show attendees will be able to experience the fabrics for themselves inside the fair’s White Area, booth seven.

The Swedish-made ingredient is manufactured from 100% textile waste like cotton jeans. It can then be used in manmade cellulosic fibres (MMCFs) like viscose, lyocell, modal, acetate and more.

Cone became the first North American denim mill to join the Circulose Supplier Network initiative last summer.

Wonderwall is blended from Recycled Claim Standard-approved, pre-consumer recycled cotton, wood-based Tencel fibre and 29% regenerated viscose from Circulose pulp.

It is a midweight, rigid fabric, whereas Eden's stretch level “is flexible enough to accommodate a variety of silhouettes.” The latter contains 31% regenerated viscose from Circulose and has an “authentic” denim hand-feel.

Director of product design, Pierette Scavuzzo, celebrated the denims’ increased use of recycled, circular raw material.
