LaundRe’s Salli Deighton shows off R&D results

LaundRe founder Salli Deighton has teased the results of some of the UK laundry concept’s latest denim washing, finishing and reprocessing trials on social media.
Taking a pair of “dirty old jeans”, cut in half with Jeanologia lasers and shown side by side, the industry innovator demonstrated how the nearshoring start-up’s methods had “brought [the fabric] back to life” using only ozone and humidity (left side).
Prior to LaundRe’s interventions, the jean had been destined for offshore mechanical fibre-to-fibre recycling, she described, adding: “we’re very excited about our pilot!”
The company’s research and development are co-steered by fellow UK denim consultant Rowan Hunt, its chief technology officer, who also currently advises Pakistan-based mill Soorty and domestic filtration and care technology provider Xeros.
Mr Hunt told how LaundRe’s launch date “is getting super close” in a mid-summer LinkedIn post.
