Candiani Denim has received Milan Fashion Week organiser Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI)’s Groundbreaker Award at the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards.

The northern Italian mill was honoured for its work on compostable Coreva denim, known as the world’s first to rely on natural rubber for stretch. It also launched “circular” consumer brand Coreva Design earlier this week.

In his acceptance speech, company president Alberto Candiani (pictured) told how “it is an Italian specialty to inject creativity everywhere, even into the laws of physics and chemistry.”
