Candiani awarded for sustainable innovation at ITMA

Denim producer Candiani, based near Milan, has received the Sustainable Innovation Award at this year’s International Textile Machinery Association (ITMA) event, now in its nineteenth edition and on until June 14.
The inaugural award was presented by ITMA organiser CEMATEX (the European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers) in 2015, in celebration of multistakeholder efforts to introduce sustainable supply chain innovations.
Candiani has been recognised in the Industry Excellence category for its micro-factory in central Milan, Candiani Custom, where it makes and finishes made-to-measure jeanswear on site.
The facility uses only the mill's “most sustainable denim fabrics”, according to Candiani, prioritising personalisation and transparency. It was set up with the help of fellow Italian companies like Tonello, Sip Italy, MIC, Okinawa, Cadica, Nearchimica, Cervo Tessile, Riri/Cobrax, Rotondi and FK Group, who nominated Candiani for the award.
Its supply chain is reportedly the world's shortest, measuring 238 kilometres in total length.
