Rethinking the medium: Soko Hydrogel
Italian chemicals company Soko Chimica will be exhibiting at Kingpins in Amsterdam next week with several new projects underway, and intends to focus on Soko Hydrogel. This innovative solution for denim processing essentially jellifies water, increasing its viscosity. “This creates a protective, bubble-like environment around each garment. It reduces fabric stress and minimises damage,” Luca Braschi, technology and marketing lead for the company, told Inside Denim.

Soko Hydrogel can be applied in existing washing machines and has many benefits, and notably fewer crack marks. “One of its most impressive benefits is water savings. With Hydrogel, a complete wash—from raw garment to bleaching—can be done in a single gel bath using just four litres of water per piece, compared to the usual 30+,” said Mr Braschi.

The company will be exhibiting on booth 14, Yellow Area, at Kingpins.
