Naveena introduces innovative circular solutions
Karachi-based denim mill Naveena will be presenting a series of innovative collabs at the Kingpins show which opens April 20th at Sugar City in Amsterdam.

The company’s new Biotech denim fabrics are the result of a collaboration with Circular Systems. Based in Los Angeles, California, it seeks to transform waste, either used clothing or unused crop residue, into textile fibres. Its Agraloop technology takes CBD hemp crop residue and refines it into Agraloop BioFibre, a textile-grade fibre, that Naveena has chosen to use in its new Biotech fabrics. Made using a waterless process, it delivers durability, low environmental impact along with natural fibre aesthetics.

‘Future Cellulosic’ is the name of a collaborative collection crafted by Naveena with Endrime Studio using Lenzing’s Tencel fibre and with the contribution of Officina +39 for low impact processes. ‘Future Cellulosic’ is a call to action to inspire the denim industry to design with a circular mindset using the most sustainable fibres and finishes, the company says.

With The Lycra Company, Naveena has explored yet another facet of the changing consumer landscape: the need to develop products that cover a broader range of uses and will thus be worn more often and for longer. The mill is introducing Dualistic Denim, a new range of fabrics offering comfort, long-lasting easy stretch, moisture management and a natural hand feel. Dualistic draws its performance features from a proprietary combination of Lycra T400 and a special finishing process developed by The Lycra Company. These give the yarn the texture and appearance of a spun yarn with good mechanical stretch and recovery.

Naveena Dualistic fabrics can also be made from Lycra T400 EcoMade, which, in addition to being partially derived from plants, also contains recycled content.

“At Naveena, we believe that the future of the denim is circular. Innovative and new low-impact fibres, post-industrial and post-consumer waste, new processes using less energy, water, chemicals … are some of the many developments that reflect this trend,” said Aydan Tuzun, global sales and marketing manager for Naveena Denim Mills.
